Mount Pleasant, SC is a friendly and beautiful Charleston suburb that I’m proud to call home. There are so many things to love about living here, from the warm Southern hospitality to the beautiful waterways and beaches.

Here are 10 reasons why I think you will love living in Mount Pleasant:

9. Championship Golf Courses

If golf is your forte, then Mount Pleasant is the place for you! Our town offers 4 championship courses: Charleston National Country Club, Dunes West Golf Club, Patriots Point Links, and RiverTowne Country Club.

Palmetto Islands County Park boasts 943 acres of tropical paradise.

Come out to bike the miles of trails, walk along the boardwalks, fish in the tidal creeks, or have a picnic with family.

7. The Best Shopping

Mount Pleasant is growing its inventory of retail stores, galleries, and boutiques. We especially love browsing the 60 retailers at the Mount Pleasant Towne Center mall.

Who says a small town can’t have an awesome brewery? Westbrook Brewing Co. offers brewery tours, a tasting room, and 47 unique beers on tap.

5. Boone Hall Plantation

The Boone Hall Plantation and Gardens is America’s oldest working plantation. It’s also the host of some of Mount Pleasant’s best community events and live music. We especially love our town’s famous winter Oyster Festival.

No Southern town would be complete without a host of fantastic dining options.

Whether you’re interested in shopping for fresh vegetables from the Mount Pleasant Farmers’ Market, or trying the traditional fine dining of restaurants like Opal, there’s plenty for you to love.

3. Old Village

This historic district on the Charleston Harbor is home to beautiful colonial and antebellum homes, along with unique boutiques and restaurants. Be sure to visit Pitt Street Pharmacy, where you can still get an old-fashioned ice cream soda.

The Town of Mount Pleasant calls the Mount Pleasant Pier “Mount Pleasant’s crown jewel,” and we can see why.

Talk a walk down the pier for gorgeous views of Charleston Harbor; or come dance under the covered pavilion, relax on the bench swings, or shop for gifts and sweet treats.

1. Barrier Island Beaches

In Mount Pleasant, you’re never far from the water. The town offers South Carolina’s only access to the barrier island beaches of Sullivan’s Island and the Isle of Palms. You’ll love their white sands and sparkling blue waters as much as we do.
